What should I watch?” A question for the ages. It’s a simple question, yet many of us find the answer to be complicated and difficult to find. As consumers we have access a sea of platforms like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Peacock, Disney Plus, Apple TV, ect all with hundreds of movies and shows to filter through. Once we finally complete the daunting task of choosing which service to use we face more questions such as what genre am I feeling? Should I start a movie or a series? Many get to this point and called it a night or just put on the office for the 100th time. It’s alright. Some of us just need that friend to put them on and no need to worry I am here. I’m your guy. As your newly (self)appointed movie/show expert, I’m assigning a movie once a week and and a new series to start every month. I’m going to start everybody off right with one a piece.
With this month’s series I’ll keep it light and doable with an 8 hour show split up into hour-long episodes called Bodyguard created by Jed Mercurio. Notably it was nominated for 2 Primetime Emmys in 2018.This BBC original brought to Netflix stars Richard Madden playing a war vet that finds himself nearly single handedly saving a train from a domestic terrorist attack. How he handles this situation earns him a job as head of security for a very prominent politician. As the story of his new ascent through the ranks develops, he’s having trouble determining who he’s truly fighting for. If you like action, this series with Jason Bourne similarities will have you on the edge of your seat as everything comes to a boiling point.
The movie I picked out for you boys and girls is one of my personal favorites and comes in as number 35 on the IMBD Top 250 of all time. The Departed has a Star studded cast that stars Leonardo Dicaprio as an undercover cop infiltrating a Boston Gang along with Matt Damon who also in the Massachusetts state Police force, yet he acts as mole that informs the same organization that Leo is attempting to bring down. In fact, they were in the same graduating class and are associated with the same woman. They play a thrilling game of cat and mouse, hunting for their enemy while they are unknowingly right under each other’s noses. Check it out to see which rats end up with the cheese and who ends up caught in the mouse trap.
