Monday Night Football: Four Straight Bets Ahead of Jets at 49ers

Sunday Night Football Recap

As long as the Puka Nacua injury is nothing serious, I would not be worried about last night if I were a Rams fan. Despite losing a great weapon and Stafford throwing an uncharacteristically bad interception, LA still had a chance to win it had they held the Lions to three to start overtime. I have faith that defense will improve over the course of the season, Cooper Kupp looked vintage, and I was very impressed with Tyler Johnson last night. I would, however, like to see an improved run game going forward. On the flip side, I was dead wrong about Jameson Wiliams. I thought he would be a nice deep threat, but it looks like he and Goff did some serious offseason work. That was a very good win for the Lions in a game where they could not get their top receiver involved. Stafford’s over on completions was never a doubt, and while Rams +4.5 was a bad break that did not go my way, we are still 5-5 and down less than a unit going into the final game of week 1. Let’s end opening week on a high note.

Monday Night Football Week 1: New York Jets @ San Francisco 49ers (-4) O/U 43

49ers -4 (-112)

When you have two top 10 maybe top 5 defenses match up and you take the team favored by more than a field goal, I think it speaks a lot of confidence about the pick. A key piece in Dre Greenlaw is still recovering from that Super Bowl injury, but I had to do a double take when I checked the 49ers depth chart this morning. It looks that good. They added Javon Hargrave, Leonard Floyd, Maliek Collins, and De’Vondre Campbell as well as getting Talanoa Hufanga back from injury. Trent Wiliams and Brandon Aiyuk are a go for tonight as well. I really do not see how the Jets can keep up with this roster on both sides of the ball. I feel like a lot of things would need to go right for the Jets to pull a win off. I could easily see this being a double digit win for San Francisco at home.

Christian McCaffrey Over 71.5 Rushing Yards (-120)

I know this may be a hot take, but yes, I will be taking the best running back in football’s over on rushing yards. Christian McCaffrey is Christian McCaffrey. Need I say more? He hit this line in 11 out of 16 regular season games last year as well as all 3 playoff games. The Jets have a good defense but let me list the solid to good defenses is hit this line on last year. Steelers, Rams, Giants, Bucs, Eagles, Ravens, and Seahawks twice. Brock Purdy should be leaning on the pieces around him to win football games and there aren’t many pieces in the game you can argue are better than CMC.

Breece Hall Over 28.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

Let’s flip over to the Jets. While I do not have a lot of faith in them tonight, I do really like Breece Hall as a player and I think this will be the first season where the running back workload is truly his. While the Jet’s offensive line did improve from last year, I don’t know if it did enough to withstand the pressure of the 49er front seven. His rush line can go either way which is why I am swaying towards taking his receiving yards. San Francisco is going to get to Aaron Rodgers more than their fair share of times and I am banking the veteran poise in the pocket will make for some quick throws in the flat to Hall. If he can get his hands on them, he is a great playmaker in space. He only needs a couple touches to crush this line.

Brandon Aiyuk Over 49.5 Receiving Yards (-120)

I am going to go out on a limb and say the reports on there being a lightened workload for Brandon Aiyuk in this game are smoke and mirrors. You did not pay him all of this money for nothing and, while it may have been a bit of an overpay, you would rather keep someone of his talents than let them go. With how many weapons New York has to worry about, I don’t think it unfathomable for Aiyuk to get 50. With the way he is used, I think 3 catches can get it done which is more than possible even if he really will be limited. After a long and drama-filled offseason, I would hope he is ready to go out and prove that he is worth the contract. The 49ers look to take the first step to getting back to the Super Bowl and it all starts tonight.
